5 Everyday Experiences You Didn’t Know Were Psychic

One of my greatest joys is pointing out the many ways we connect to our intuition and use our extrasensory perceptions on a daily basis. I often find that people who are really interested in strengthening their psychic abilities can get frustrated when they feel disconnected or fail to meet their own expectations. This is common, even amongst spiritual communities. I've been there! As humans, we all have a tendency to compare ourselves to others. Ironically, trying to force our abilities can lower our vibration and make it more difficult to access them. In reality, it’s impossible to disconnect from our intuition, and we are constantly surrounded and supported by spirit. It's just a matter of aligning our vibration to consciously experience it. Sometimes it's helpful to remember that we do this effortlessly all the time! When we begin to recognize the depth of these everyday experiences, it only strengthens the connection. Here are a few fun examples of psychic experiences that you might be missing!

  1.  Pop-ins from others: Have you ever had someone pop into your mind randomly? This is a visit! Our souls are not bound by time or space, and when we think of someone, we are instantaneously initiating a connection. The same is true for loved ones in spirit. It might feel like you started thinking about the person out of nowhere, but try to catch yourself when this happens and explore it deeper. Was it their name that came to mind? Did something remind you of them? If you saw them in your mind's eye, where did they show up in your field of vision, and what did they look like? Did the person text or call you soon afterwards? This can be a fun experience to practice with friends.

  2. Repeating song lyrics in your head: We've all had an annoying jingle get stuck in our head for hours on end. But what about those moments when a line from a song starts replaying in our minds unexpectedly? This is an incredibly common way that spirit connects with us. A fun example that I experienced during my own spiritual development was the song “Firework” by Katy Perry. I was feeling excited about connecting to spirit, and I was met with this line replaying in my mind: "Boom, boom, boom. Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon. It's always been inside of you, you, you. Now it's time to let it through." What a joyful and timely message from my guides. Which songs come to mind for you?

  3. Tingles and twitches: This one can be tricky to decipher, but it's also incredibly useful. Spiritual communication, whether from our own intuition or spirit, is not bound by language. Fortunately, our physical bodies are our greatest tools for experiencing and interpreting messages. In fact, the body is THE tool. Tingles and twitches can seem random, but when we seek to interpret these sensations for their deeper meaning, interesting patterns can emerge. For example, I have found that I experience tingles in the soles of my feel when I take a step towards progressing myself professionally, in relationships, etc. I've found this to be a touching sign of support from my guides for my personal journey. It's like an acknowledgement of a soulful step forward. Similarly, I have found that every time a spirit wants to connect with me, I feel a distinct tingle on the top of my head. I encourage everyone to pay attention to these sensations and explore what is happening when they occur. Avoid assigning meaning based on other's experiences. Try to understand your own. When we begin to identify patterns, it opens the door for more communication in this way.

  4. Random memories: This one is really important and it took me YEARS to understand why this was happening. When we experience a random memory, it can hold powerful insight into our current life situation. It can also be a message from our soul, highlighting an area that needs our attention for healing. We often hear about our need to heal our "inner child." One of the most impactful insights I've received from my guides is that our inner child often speaks to us how a child would - drawing our attention to things in ways that would have worked for us then. The key is to explore the random memory further.  If you don't understand, you can always ask for clarification. For example, I had a recurring memory of watching Pippi Longstocking on my box tv as a kid. This felt incredibly random, and I didn't understand it at all until I decided to ask. Once I looked at the memory more intently and kind of "zoomed out," I could see what was going on in my life at that time and recognize some relevance to my current situation. I encourage you to pay attention to your own random memories and ask what you need to understand from them. It might surprise you!

  5. Feeling like you forgot something: Yep. That too. This annoying sensation is rarely wrong and can happen for multiple reasons. Obviously, if we actually forgot something this can occur. It can also show up when we need to slow down. What better way for our guides to protect us from walking into something unnecessarily unpleasant, than to drop this one on us? Pro tip: If you actually find yourself needing to figure out what you forgot, pay attention to any initial impressions and see what direction your body starts facing or walking. You'd be surprised how often you naturally turn and walk towards your missing item. I use this every time my kids’ toys go missing!
